How To Register Your Macbook Pro

  • #1

When I go to MobileMe preferences --> Sync -- > Avant-garde, no estimator is listed as being synchronized. I hit "Register this computer" and get a spinning bike for always against "Registering computer". ("Reset sync data" is greyed out.)

So I can't register, and hence tin can't sync.

I'd be very grateful for any suggestions!!!!!

[I'm on a MacBook Pro running 10.v.iv, so everything should be up to date.]

Don't know if this will help for you.. but on My PC I was having the same effect. I opened iTunes and registered the computer for iTunes and so was able to sync with MobileMe. Its worth a try.

Going nuclear ...

I did solve my trouble in fact, forth with a raft of other annoyances, but by going nuclear (something I'd for quite other reasons been meaning to practise for some fourth dimension). :)

Mobileme

MobileMe sync worked fine on my abode network, but won't work at my role. Both are continued wirelessly. Any ideas would be appreciated. At the office it doesn't even see my estimator and I tin can't annals or unregister it.

Thank you,

Fix the registering fault

Endeavour this.

I tried everything, and I mean it. Repairing permissions, repairing keychains, registering my computer AND mobile me with the Aforementioned ACCOUNT name/laissez passer, deleting, editing, everything, only Nada WORKED. My computer would not show up and I could not register.

But I found this and it worked for me, instantly:

"I was trying out Apple's new MobileMe service and I was having a hard time registering my computer for sync. I would click the Register button and things would spin for a while and then nada. No error message of any sort, it would just end and the registration would neglect. After searching log and hard on the web, I found an article that offered a number of potential solutions. It turned out my problem was a serial of entries in my /etc/hosts file for mac.com. I edited the file and removed the entries and voila, registration worked.

Do the following:

1. Type 'sudo nano /etc/hosts' in the final. Type your admin password.

2. Delete whatever line that is related to dotmac. By default /etc/hosts contains only iv entries.
You can easily delete them from the command line by using the arrow
keys to get to the right line, then press CTRL+1000 to cut them out.

Save the file (CTRL+O so ENTER) and close the terminal window.

three. Either wait for the Os Ten DNS server to reload the file, or restart your computer. I did the latter, simply to be sure."

Not sure I get this...

I'm not sure I'm understanding this set.

The "mobileme proper name associated with the business relationship" and the account are the same thing. In that location is no other "proper name" associated with my mobileme business relationship except for my username/account name.

Okay...An update and another idea

I couldn't annals my iMac afterwards a HDD crash and reconstruction, even though the instructions in MobileMe were correct. And the above instructions made no sense.

So I tried "signing out" and signing back in on the account tab of System Preferences/MobileMe. That worked.

Some other registran wannabe

Just bought a new MacBook and am trying to sync it with my desktop Mac using MobileMe. I go to System Preference, click on MobileMe and so Sync. And then to Advanced. I see there no registered computer and no choice to register. Can anyone assist? I am NEW to Mac and not all that figurer-proficient. Tin can anyone aid me fix this without degenerating into reckoner-speak?

Am I correct in bold the first step is to go my new computer registered in MobileMe? My desktop, on the same screen shows My name and "'s iMac (this Computer)" On my new MacBook at that place is nothing and no mode for me to enter anything. If I should become into this on my new computer I'grand non even sure what the name of this new reckoner is!!!!

Cheers,
Bill

First on the new MacBook get to System Preferences>MobileMe. Then Sign Out.
Sign back in with your MobileMe account info, and run into if enabling syncing will piece of work now.

Out of the blue on Tuesday, my iMac and MB BOTH decided to stop syncing with MobileMe out of nowhere with a helpful mistake message telling me it had failed "due to an fault" (very useful).

I tried everything Apple suggested in their assist pages and things MR readers suggested too simply nothing did the flim-flam. Neither reckoner was shown as registered and when I went in to register them, they just ticked over for ages simply neither showed upward. Eventually I had to contact MM back up who told me to enter gibberish as the countersign in the MM preferences so I was told I couldn't log on. I did this and they told me to plough the router off and on again which struck me as tech back up'south last resort but I slavishly followed the proposition with a heavy centre.

The funny thing was, information technology worked for both the iMac and MB! Non certain why or if it was but a fluke but it's the commencement and hopefully last MM issue I've had because the "off and on over again" set always seems a bit dubious fifty-fifty if information technology does piece of work!

Next time, I'll try some of the solutions here likewise, it's always useful to have a resource!
